Botanica brings a new generation of bands that translate the spirit of the 60s/70s to the now, with influences from every corner of the globe, for fans of Jungle By Night, YIN YIN, Altïn Gün, Nusantara Beat. Live played dance music that moves the floor, interspersed with vinyl-only DJs from Rebel Vinyl Club, who close the night with deep grooves and cosmic sounds. Chica Chica
Psychedelic cumbia, exotic film scores and danceable grooves form the basis of Chica Chica's exciting music. Born out of the desire to travel, this trio takes you on a road-trip back in time. Funky melodic bass lines, heady wah-wah guitars and South American percussion. Organic and gritty, sunny and full of life. Like the analog photo on your favorite Peruvian long-playing record.
This emerging band began playing live in the summer of '22 and in late '23 their debut album was released. The singles "Disco L'Africain" and "Year of the Dragon" both found their way into the regular rotation of NPO Soul and Jazz. Last year they were featured at ESNS, played at a host of summer festivals and toured all over the country with the Popronde in the fall. They are currently working on their second album which will be released in 2026.
