'Normality No More' is a multidisciplinary performance that celebrates the diversity of human experience, with Schubert's 'Winterreise' is reinterpreted. It highlights neurodiversity and advocates empathy.
Musical theater, modern dance and classical music about being different
What is actually normal? And who decides? In "Normality No More" - a fusion of musical theater, modern dance and classical music - three top companies take you into a neurodiverse world of experience.
Schubert's "Winterreise" is boned and rebuilt into pulsating electro pop, hypnotic glissandi and Surinamese dance rhythms. In the original version, the protagonist embarks on a lonely, winter journey after his love leaves him. In the hands of these three companies, it becomes a call for empathy for people who experience the world differently than the masses. All dancers, musicians and actors play a character inspired by personal experiences and scientific research on neurodivergence. They show their strength and vulnerability, embracing their own diversity while longing for social integration. The audience experiences what it is like to step into the shoes of people perceived as "strange" and discovers the wonderful qualities of the neurodiverse human being. Where are you on the spectrum?
