De Toneelmakerij and Oorkaan take you to a world full of hidden memories. Kantjil en de tijger is compelling and poetic musical theater about an Indian grandmother with a last wish, a brave girl in search of answers and the unexpected friendship with the black belt karate dwarf Kantjil.
Indra's grandmother Billy is old and ill. A motley crew of relatives and friends gathers in her small living room. People eat, talk, play music and wait for the approaching goodbye. Grandmothers do die, Indra believes.
But why then is her family so restless? When Grandma shares her last wish, Indra is sucked into history. She meets Kantjil, her sidekick from Grandma's homeland, who guides her through her family history and the world Grandma Billy grew up in. Together they piece together the puzzle pieces of Grandma's past. Can you be too old to give a place to the past, or too young for your own family's history?
