From December 1, the Regionaal Archief Dordrecht's exhibition Dordtenaar4-ever!? will be on display in the attic of Hof van Nederland. At the exhibition, discover what newcomers have brought to the city of Dordrecht throughout the centuries. By sharing personal stories and historical facts, we want to encourage Dordrechters to reflect on their own history and discover how the diversity of people and influences has shaped the city.
Dordtenaar4-ever!?
Dordtenaar4-ever!? tells the story of the different groups of people who have moved to Dordrecht over the centuries and how they have enriched the city. The exhibition shows who these new Dordrechters are, where they came from and how they were welcomed. From Lombards in the Middle Ages to Jews from Spain, Protestant refugees and former guest workers from countries such as Turkey and Morocco, all brought new cultures, beliefs, tastes and customs. Five themes highlight their influence on Dordrecht's economy, society and culture, with attention to religious diversity, fashion, music, and even street names named after them.
Portraits of Dordrians
Jan Wind's photographic portraits can be seen in the exhibition Dordtenaar 4-ever? His photographs show all the people who give color and character to the city.
