On Friday, June 13, Music Stage DJS will be all about the blues during 'De Dordtse Helden' night, an evening with local musicians. This time it's all about pure, raw homegrown blues. Three local bands take the stage to take the audience on a musical journey full of compelling grooves and passionate solos.
One of the bands playing this evening is The Riverford Band. The band has been around for seven years now in varying lineups and is formed by two music veterans from Dordrecht: Alex Mesma (drums) and Cees Kok (lead vocals and rhythm guitar). Together with Frans van de Laar (solo guitar, vocals) and Hans de Bruijn (bass guitar, backing vocals), they perform a varied blues repertoire. For this special occasion they will play a mix of well-known and lesser-known blues covers, supplemented with some of Cees Kok's own songs.
Also performing is Bluesiness, a three-man formation with experienced musicians who have more than earned their spurs. The band consists of Rolf (vocals), Daniel (guitar) and Arkadiusz (blues harp). Together they bring a mix of traditional and modern blues and Americana, infused with their personal style and passion for the genre. This blues-rock formation must be seen and heard! From B.B. King to Elvis Presley, this band revives the legends. Most members have logged quite a few miles on their instruments, guaranteeing an authentic blues experience.
The third band of the evening is Recommended, a powerful blues formation that completes the evening. The band consists of: Bart de Weert - saxophone, Derek Jong - guitar, Michel Cuny - guitar, Dick van Sluis - bass, Fred Romijn - drums & John Fijan - vocals & blues harp
