Sharing the heart of music
With the program "Terra Memoria," the quartet presents a movingly beautiful program that touches you deep down. In addition to music by Gesualdo, Mussorgsky and Liszt, this concert features Schubert's masterful string quartet Der Tot und das Mädchen, one of the saddest and best works in chamber music literature. Death also plays an important role in Saariaho's second string quartet Terra Memoria. She juxtaposes the immobile state of the departed with the still-evolving memories we cherish of them. In those memories they live on.
