Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: tracking down “the Entity”: Artificial Intelligence that has begun to think for itself and is seeking access to the operating systems of nuclear weapons as a computer virus. It could mean the destruction of the entire world.
At the beginning of the film, the first part of this plot (=MI 7) is briefly summarized. When a sunken Russian submarine is then dived, the mission gets its spectacular sequel. Of course, it becomes a race around the world for Ethan Hunt and his team. In which the level of action scenes and stunts rises unparalleled. Can the ticking time (nuclear) bomb be stopped?
Part 8 has been billed – but you never know for sure – as Tom Cruise ’s final MI film. Thanks to his impulses and groundbreaking stunt work, the series has become cinematic history. The world premiere in Cannes earned a 5-minute standing ovation
Due to the length of the film, there is a 10-minute intermission.
