How unhappy and angry you can be as a wife, sister and mother.
Director: Mike Leigh (a.o. Secrets & Lies, Mr. Turner - Actors: a.o. Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Michele Austin
Length: 97 minutes - Language: English
- Subtitles: Dutch
Pansy(Marianne Jean-Baptiste) is a furious woman. She is constantly arguing with everyone around her. At the supermarket, at the doctor's office, and even her own husband and son do not escape her outbursts. No one can do right by her. Pansy's mental and physical pain leaves a heavy mark on those around her. The only one who manages to pierce through her tough exterior is her sister Chantelle(Michele Austin). Chantelle has a mostly positive attitude and, with her daughters, is a complete opposite of Pansy and her family.
British film veteran Mike Leigh does again what he does so well: minimalist social realist drama with big impact. This time a sharp and honest portrait of a deeply unhappy wife and mother. Marianne Jean-Baptiste brings Pansy unparalleled to life. The result is a drama that is both heartbreaking and comical.
About the CineFiliaal
The Cinephilia opens especially for our regular customers. At the regular time of Wednesday evening (around) 8:30 pm. Holders of Cineville passes, Filmcredits and Strippenkaart and other fans of our movie theater are invited weekly for a preview of a new film. So you see the film first. That film is (usually) introduced by Geert ter Steeg or Don Zwaaneveld; a story about the background of the film, the makers and the making process. With great viewing tips to watch out for,
