de Volkskrant: "...that Led Zeppelin sounded incomparably good in 1969, this docu makes it unerringly clear."
Becoming Led Zeppelin shows the origins of the legendary British rock band. Against all odds, the band made a meteoric rise thanks to their successful album. With impressive, psychedelic and never-before-seen footage, performances and music clips, director Bernard MacMahon takes you back to 1969. Band members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones themselves talk at length about what drove them that first year. How the energy radiated and the workload they imposed on themselves was actually inhuman.
The film ends in 1970, so all stories of their illustrious drinking, drugging and sex lives are left for a possible sequel, including Stairway to Heaven. The film's sound quality is praised.
