In 1935, Antoni Benaiges(Enric Auquer) is appointed a teacher in a small, remote village in Burgos, Spain. His class consists of a group of children ages 6 to 12, for whom education had previously been strict and traditional. But Benaiges does things differently. He takes a printing press and has them write about their dreams and ambitions. He also makes a special promise: one day he will take them to the sea. They have never seen it before.
75 years later, Ariadna(Laia Costa), the granddaughter of one of his students, discovers the touching story behind that promise and unravels the fate of Benaiges, whose ideals and innovative teaching methods proved fatal to him.
This powerful historical drama is based on a true story. Director Patricia Font made a penetrating film about the pain still felt in Spanish society. And a tribute to a man who believed in the future of children.
