Synopsis
From Dean DeBlois, the three-time Oscar®-nominated Golden Globe winner and the creative brain behind DreamWorks Animation's acclaimed How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, comes a stunning live-action version of the film that started the beloved franchise.
On the savage island of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been the greatest enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) is a misfit. The resourceful, unremarkable son of chieftain Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, returning in the same role) breaks an age-old tradition when he befriends Toothless, a dreaded Hell dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons and turns entire Viking communities upside down. With the tough and ambitious Astrid (BAFTA nominee Nico Parker; Dumbo, The Last of Us) and the quirky village blacksmith Gobber (Nick Frost; Snow White and the Huntsman, Shaun of the Dead) by his side, Hiccup confronts a world divided by fear and misunderstanding. When an ancient threat rears its head, putting both Vikings and dragons at risk, Hiccup's friendship with Toothless proves to be the key to a new future. Together they must try to bring back peace. Floating beyond the boundaries of their world, they offer a new perspective on what it means to be a hero and a leader.
