How to make ice cream without an ice cream maker. In a time without electrical outlets, people still did a lot by hand. Ice cubes they did have, and with a clever ice cream maker you could turn fresh ingredients into delicious ice cream. You needed a good set of muscles, though!
This afternoon in the museum garden, curator Wyke Sybesma explains how, a century ago, people could make ice cream without a freezer. This favorite dessert did not come from a factory and the recipe was slightly different from what we are used to today. Fun to see and to lend a hand, suitable for the whole family. Tasting is free! Chocolate, strawberry ice cream, lemon sorbet... Which flavor is best?
Every half hour between 1 and 3 p.m. a demonstration will start. Reservations are not necessary, participation in the demonstration and tasting is included in your museum admission fee.
