The Vrekkin is about a shameless family with too much money and too little sense of reality.
If love is expressed in money, you want to have as much of it as possible, right?
Lyricist Jibbe Willems drew inspiration for this performance from Molière's The Miser.
The Vrekkin shows that you cannot run your family like a business and that money is not the same as genuine attention. Under tight control of mother and her personal assistant, this family with son, daughter and life coach leads a frenzied life. Mother's empire seems to be an inexhaustible source of money for her children. When she realizes everyone is taking advantage of her, mother throws the safe. She no longer wants to be a living credit card. Meanwhile, her children indulge in secrets and sneaky desires. And then there is her ex-husband who is always around, but mostly aloof from all the family troubles. The family chaos is complete when mother decides to marry the much younger Ramses.
What is left when you can suddenly lose everything?
