Nature walk led by a guide from nature organization IVN.
Park Merwestein is the oldest city park in Dordrecht. It is located in the 19th-century shell and originated from an old estate called Merwestein. Since 1885, it has been owned by the Municipality of Dordrecht. Features of the park, in English Landscape style, are the large lawns, special trees, winding paths and some water features. You will also find animals, such as ducks, geese, swans and a deer camp. Besides its nature, the park is also interesting because of its history. It was hit by bombing in the war and recovery took 2 years. A war and liberation monument by Hans Petri called The Tree of Life has been placed there. The walk focuses particularly on shrub plants. Stinzenplanten are spring flowering plants with often striking flowers.
