In honor of the Johan de Witt year, the Orchest-Vereeniging Dordrecht, in collaboration with the Dordrecht Museum and Big Rivers, presents a sparkling concert inspired by the ideas of this great Dordrecht artist. Under the motto "De Witt's True Freedom," music will be heard that celebrates, questions and sings of freedom, from Baroque to Romanticism.
On the program:
*Georg Friedrich Handel - Water Music
A contemporary of De Witt and, like him, a master of his time. Handel's music for a royal cruise exudes elegance, grandeur and ... flowing freedom.
*Antonín Dvořák - Symphony No. 9 "From the New World"
Dvořák's masterpiece about longing for a new beginning. The dream of a free world, shaped by hope, nostalgia and boundless inspiration, resounds in this music.
An afternoon of music that depicts freedom in a variety of ways, from court music to symphonic narrative.
We cordially invite you to reflect together on the legacy of Johan de Witt, and to come hear this musical ode to freedom in the heart of Dordrecht.
Don't forget to bring your own folding chair!
