Three artists. Three worlds. One exhibition
The 2026 De Scheffer Art Prize at the Dordrechts Museum
The De Scheffer Art Prize is one of the most prestigious Dutch awards for young painters. Every two years, the Dordrechts Museum Association spotlights three promising artists aged 35 or younger. For visitors, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover the work of a new generation of painters—often at a time when their careers are just taking off.
Step into three completely different visual worlds and discover just how exciting painting can be today.
WinnerFaria van Creij-Callendertakes you into a magical-realist world full of color and depth. In her paintings, identity, family history, and imagination merge. Figures seem both present and lost in thought, while windows, mirrors, and glimpses draw you deeper and deeper into the image.
ForRicardo van Eyk, it’s all about experimentation. His work straddles the line between painting and material exploration. Using industrial techniques and unexpected materials, he constructs layered images in which precise grids and subtle plays of light reinforce one another.
Lorian Gwynn, on the other hand, creates an intense, almost hallucinatory universe. Her paintings are bursting with energy: figures appear and disappear amid smoke, color, and fire. Drips and brushstrokes remain visible, making the paint itself the star of the show.
Contemporary Painting: At a Turning Point
