Laibach is a band that hardly needs an introduction. The Slovenian art collective, founders of the movement Neue Slovenische Kunst and creators of the term "retro-avantgarde," has been active since 1980 and for decades has specialized in provocative imagery and in the perversion of symbols, with the main goal of getting the public to think about the propaganda that people begin to consider dead normal after enough exposure.
Founded in 1980, the band releases new work very regularly, looking at the political and cultural history of the European continent from different angles. Its most recent albums are "Wir sind das Volk," an adaptation of Heiner Müller's poems, from 2022, and "Sketches of the Red District," a retrospective of the band's origins in a mining town under a repressive regime, from 2023.
In 2024, the band will be available for festival concerts, where they will perform a "best of" their old and new material, as well as venue shows under the title "Opus Dei Revamped," an update and upgrade of their classic 1987 album.
