Merwe's Oratorium Vereniging and Hollands Diep will jointly present a únique musical double presentation about Johan de Witt on September 26!
In "Noodklok" by Music Theater Hollands Diep you get a glimpse into his life through the letters to Johan de Witt, at the same time it is a fantasy how his inner experience might have been. 'Woke' culture and contemporary opinions sneak into the 17th century... An ensemble of percussionist, baritone and actress bring Johan to life.
MOV sings the "Requiem in memoriam Johan de Witt" (Roel van Oosten, 2022) that commemorates the Disaster Year 1672 and the assassination of de Witt. The work uses texts from the Latin Mass, in addition to texts by contemporaries, such as the philosopher Spinoza. The famous text "Redeloos, Radeloos and Reddeloos" is also well recognized. In addition to choir and soprano, the percussionist has a major role.
