Fully in style with the anniversary presentation "Of the Party," Huis van Gijn is organizing an exclusive afternoon on party fashion and costume.

*In the beautiful room with 18th-century tapestries, get an introduction to the themed presentation. Collection specialist Ninon Mosselman delves into the museum's fashion collection of nearly 1,000 pieces! The collection covers the period from around 1700 to the 1950s. From everyday items like bed socks to gala gowns and official costumes. And did you know that dressing up was wildly popular in the 19th century, both with children and adults? Special pieces of this have been preserved as well.

*Following, costume historian Martine Teunissen takes you back to the bustling parties and celebrations of around 1900. Together with her models, she shows various silhouettes from that time, a period in which each decade had its own trends. You see the clothing change from the relatively stiff fashion of 1870 with tournure to the loose cut of the "roaring twenties.

*The beautiful pieces from the fashion collection can usually be admired from behind a fence, but during Modefeest you get the chance to see the collection up close! In the Museum's Upper Room, a collection specialist will have a selection of fashion items and accessories ready for you. See the delicacy of an antique fan and the precise handiwork of beaded motifs, or view old fashion prints from Le Journal des Dames et des Demoiselles.

You will need a separate ticket for this exclusive program; these go by time slot. The ticket gives you access to the Hall, where you are welcome for the introduction and fashion presentation (total 50 minutes).
Before or after, you can see the collection up close in the Upper Room and, of course, visit the house and "From the Party! If you have a ticket for the last time slot, visit the Upper Room prior to the presentation in the Hall.
A limited number of tickets are available per time slot, gone = gone. A ticket costs € 10,00 excluding museum entrance. Museumkaart / Dordtpas / Rotterdampas / VriendenLoterij VIP-card are valid, so if you have such a discount card you only pay for the program.
