An intimate performance about longing, loneliness in the big city and family
Belle van Heerikhuizen: "The woman in Nightshade struggles with her loneliness and, in response, deploys her femininity as a weapon. But behind her behavior lies a deep sadness. Is she too fragile for the world? Or is the world too hard for her? I want to look at her with gentle eyes, at a woman full of contradictions. A woman who yearns for contact, but loses in the attempt at contact."
From Heerikhuizen made af last season the acclaimed Guilty Child, selected for the Nederlands Theater Festival. A performance about the aftermath of the relationship of an eleven-year-old boy with an adult man, based on the autobiographical work of writer Ted van Lieshout.
Annet Bremen writes light performances about poignant subjects. For Do You Want a Candy? (2022), about children's fear and fascination with kidnapping, she previously collaborated with Belle van Heerikhuizen. Last season she wrote the acclaimed F*CK LOLITA, in which numerous rape myths are debunked and she gives the floor to Lolita.
