This year, the Netherlands celebrates King Willem-Alexander's birthday on April 26. On this day, Dordrecht will be colored orange. In Huis Van Gijn, you can take the free Orange Route during your visit from April 22 to May 4. Dive into Van Gijn's extensive Orange collection and learn more about the history of the monarchy, kings and stadholders and the surprising royal connections of Huis Van Gijn.
Simon van Gijn was a passionate collector and convinced Orange supporter. He collected everything to do with the royal family and national history: prints, paintings, ceramics, glass, coins and medals. Many objects were given a place in his house and the exhibitions he made. They can still be seen in Huis Van Gijn, exactly as they were around 1900.
Please note! The museum is closed on Mondays and on King's Day (April 26).
