On Saturday, July 26 at 3 p.m. is the grand opening of a brand new exhibition at Galerie Via Lumina at 152 Voorstraat. The exhibitor is Dordrecht artist Jonathan Wesseling. Part of his wide-ranging and versatile oeuvre can be admired every Saturday and the first Sunday of the month between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. from then until September 6.
As a child, Jonathan could sing rather than talk and draw rather than write. Whenever he could, he drew. In elementary school, he made many comic strips (which always ended well). In high school, he was introduced to many more different techniques. His creativity was also put to good use in his subsequent training as a florist. After this training he took drawing lessons again. This time from Annemiek Brand, an artist in Dordrecht. She taught him especially the anatomy of the human body where drawing striking heads and characteristic postures of the body became a challenge.
Via Lumina gives artists, who are outside the mainstream art world, the opportunity to exhibit their work. Art connects and creates friendships. The artworks are for sale in the gallery every Saturday and the first Sunday of the month between 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., but daily in Via Lumina's webshop.
