First lecture in a series of lectures on climate.
The first speaker in this series of lectures on climate is Paul Schenderling. "The reasons to stop economic growth are ironclad," Paul Schenderling (1988) wrote in Trouw. The economist likes to aim a bludgeon. Not just to create a stir, but from a deep-seated conviction. After all, economic growth goes hand in hand with large-scale exploitation of the earth, and countless of our fellow human beings slave away daily to maintain our prosperity.
In daily life, Paul works at Berenschot, where he advises governments on social issues. Part-time, because the rest of the week he invests in work for Just Enough. In 2019, he published for the first time a calculation of how many underpaid day laborers work to serve the Dutch economy. With Matthias Olthaar, he wrote the book "How do I trade fairly?" and under his editors, in October 2022, the book "There is life after growth; how we realistically secure our future"-the first Dutch-language publication on the subject.
