Big John, the band that takes its name from the son of the house from Neil Young's legendary song Powderfinger, is making its comeback at Rebel Rebel! This formation began on the Rotterdam pub circuit in 2007 and grew into a beloved act on both local and international stages, including the French festival Le Rairies. After years of regular performances, including on Queen's Day in Rotterdam, the band came to an abrupt halt in 2012 due to the serious illness of lead guitarist Pieter Dijkstra. Pieter, one of the driving forces behind Big John, pressed the band just before his death in 2021 to continue doing what they do best: making music.
With that desire as their driving force, Big John returned to the stage in October 2022 during an unforgettable show at Bierlokaal Faas in Rotterdam. In the same formation, but with "one man down," they once again managed to touch the audience with their powerful sound and passion.
On Sunday, March 30, 2025, Big John will take the stage at Rebel Rebel with that same fire. Come enjoy an evening of compelling music and pure energy.
