Work of Robert Munning.
Despite a quiet desire to go to art school after high school, Robert (b. 1981) chose to study psychology. This did not mean that this choice extinguished his love for painting. On the contrary. It only grew stronger. In fact, his studies and his paintings show a strong similarity: a clearly visible interest in human beings.
Robert's paintings intrigue with a mysterious aura and their introspective nature. A desire for stillness shows itself in the work.
He does not see a painting merely as a simple visual representation. A painting carries the energy of his creation. Intention, emotion and skill are woven into something tangible,
The creation itself, and being fully present in the moment, carries something of magic. However, at the end of the process it is always experienced that capturing that magic was not successful after all, or only to a limited extent, after which the flame to start the process again is rekindled. Painting thus remains a quest, in which the process is experienced as being just as important as the end result.
