When a friend took him to a ghetto club on the West Side to hear blues singer Tail Dragger, it was a conversion moment. The blues came alive for Johnny and he plunged headlong into Chicago's vibrant blues scene.
Johnny preferred the blues clubs to the library and eagerly absorbed lessons from the blues masters who practiced their craft every night. Through persistence and practice, Johnny gained a spot in Tail Dragger's band and began performing and recording with such traditional blues veterans as Sam Lay, Billy Boy Arnold and Pinetop Perkins.
Rockin' Johnny is an engaging front man who has 11 CDs to his credit as a leader and dozens more as a sideman. He is known as a road warrior who tours almost 200 nights a year through the States, Mexico and Europe. But so this Friday just in our own Muziekodium DJS in Dordrecht!
