Selma Visscher, award-winning at cabaret festivals, debuts with "I'd Rather Look. She combines music with stand-up.
Musical cabaret by winner of Groninger Student Cabaret Festival
Selma Visscher is an authentic new voice in cabaret country and, above all, extraordinarily funny. Her path to the cabaret stage is one out of the book. She was kicked out of drama school and less than a month later won the jury prize at the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival. This was followed by final spots at the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival and Cameretten. With 'Ik kijk liever', the Groningen native makes her debut in theaters. Selma stays close to her core values of discomfort and shame and gives a new interpretation of the stand-up genre with music. The GSCF jury compared her to Katinka Polderman and found Selma's performance "intense and moving." Theaterkrant called her songs "all highlights, beautiful in language and wonderfully accompanied by her musical brother Lars." So put Selma on your must-see list.
