As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder, the December jitters begin to rise again. The supermarkets have been stocked with St. Nicholas candy and cookies for months now, yet they often don't taste nearly as good as when we used to make them ourselves; sweet breastplate, marzipan fruit and the wonderful smell of freshly baked kruidnootjes.
