City walk through historic Dordrecht led by a guide from Gilde Dordrecht.

On Fridays from April through October, Gilde Dordrecht provides an entry-level walk through historic Dordrecht from 11:30-13:00 a.m.

The city of Dordrecht is more than 800 years old, making it the oldest city in Holland. Due to its favorable location at a junction of rivers, Dordrecht became a thriving commercial city as early as the 12th century. Important historical events include the Sint Elisabethvloed in 1421, the First Free States Assembly in 1572 and the Dordrecht Synod in 1618/19. From the Groothoofd, a city gate from the 15th century, you have a wonderful view of the busiest river point in Europe. Indeed, this is where the rivers Oude Maas, Beneden Merwede and Noord converge. The city has many characteristic inner harbors, has about a thousand National Monuments and takes its name from the small river Thuredrith.

Start: VVV Dordrecht (Spuiboulevard 99).

Participation costs €5.00 p.p., payable to the guide and in cash only!

Sign up (not required) can be done through: 06-17079743 or stadswandelingen@gilde-dordrecht.nl

Spontaneous walk-alongs are also welcome at any time.

You are requested to be present no later than 15 minutes before the start.
