Valerie Holiday once again leads this legendary trio, along with Freddie Pool and Hazel Payne. In 2023, The Three Degrees celebrated their 60th anniversary in show business, a milestone!
They had a string of hits in the U.S. and their biggest hit, "When Will I See You Again," was hugely successful around the world. The trio topped the charts in the US, UK, Japan and most European countries, earning every accolade imaginable at the time and enough gold records to make Fort Knox a little jealous.
Six decades later, the trio has maintained their precise vocal prowess and in between have amassed an impressive list of hit records. In 1970, they were signed to Roulette Records and released their first album, Maybe. The title track, this time starring Valerie Holiday, took them to No. 4 on the US R&B chart. The singles "I Do Take You" and "You're the Fool" followed, as did their second album, So Much Love. In 1972, they signed a record deal with Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International label.
King Charles III (then Prince Charles) proclaimed The Three Degrees his favorite group, Which earned them the nickname Charlie's Angels! They were one of the few from America invited to Charles and Diana's wedding.
The Three Degrees can still claim to be the longest-running female vocal group in history, and they show no signs of slowing down!
