Do you have Indian or Moluccan roots? Were you born in or do you live in Dordrecht or one of the Drechtsteden and do you want to know more about your family past? Then the Tracing Your Roots Family Day is for you! On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Regionaal Archief Dordrecht, in cooperation with Tracing Your Roots and the research group Indisch Dordrecht, organizes a special family day in museum Hof van Nederland in which you and your family will go on a journey of discovery to your roots.
Program
During the Tracing Your Roots Family Day you can participate in various activities. You will follow a workshop Indisch/Molukkan genealogy research and you will learn how to conduct an oral history interview. The goal of this day is to learn more about the history of your ancestors. You will also dive into the history of Indisch Dordrecht by visiting the mini-exhibition 'Indische nieuwkomers' and get an exclusive sneak-preview of the book of the same name that will be published soon.
In the Migration Story Salon, you can bring photos, documents and objects that recall your family's arrival and integration in Dordrecht. Here you can then discuss with other Indian/Moluccan families about the reception and integration in the region. The day will end with a festive drink.
