Five years after URLAUB, URLAND comes to the conclusion that everything has gotten worse. An English-language performance about burnout, performance pressure and the meaning of Nothingness.
URLAND disconnects from mental pandemic, in search of the meaning of Nothingness
Five years after URLAUB, Rotterdam-based performance collective URLAND revisits its own Italo-Disco recreation horror, in which millennials tried to escape the pressures of everyday life, and concludes that things have gotten worse: URLAUB Revisited, in other words.
Welcome to the age of the mental pandemic, pervasive pressure, increasing insecurities and only more burnouts (you too?). The tired society is overexcited and hyperactive. The homo economicus markets himself and silently weeps bitter Prozac tears. We work under voluntary compulsion and relax in compulsive freedom. Rest becomes restlessness. Too much truth, too much falsehood, too many expectations, too much data, too much access, too many friends... How do we let go, when there is nothing left to hold on to?
URLAND disconnects and searches for the meaning of Nothingness. English-language performance.
