On March 1, a new exhibition opens at art venue Pictura titled "Willemijn Kijkt, wonderings about the everyday.
The artist takes her audience on a curious quest through our everyday lives, showing how beauty is present in the smallest moments. Special observations are given a different meaning, magnified or reversed. This offers the viewer a different perspective on ordinary life. There are elements from nature, performances, a collection of extraordinary ordinary objects and sharp, attentive glances. The title refers to the subscription of the same name "Willemijn Kijkt," for which a series of works is sent by mail every month. A subscription that makes the recipient wonder and look at the little things around us. Esther Willemijn van Zoelen set up this project in 2020, which means it is five years old this year. To celebrate this anniversary, Esther is inviting three artists who are related to her subscription series, these are: Renée Bus, Lucia Koevoets and Ellen Yiu.
The independent bookstore KIOSK Rotterdam will further deepen the exhibition in the foyer and bar, with a selection of relevant books and a surprise workshop and lecture. This exhibition has been subsidized by the Municipality of Dordrecht
Also, to reward the artists, a crowdfunding has been set up where donations can be made until the exhibition opens: https://www.voordekunst.nl/projecten/18177-tentoonstelling-willemijn-kijkt.
