Huis Van Gijn exists 100 years, so time for a party! Come decorate your party mask during the May vacation.
Around 1900, costume parties are wildly popular. The gentleman of the house himself, Simon van Gijn, as a student, designs historical costumes for a parade (masquerade) through Leiden.
In this creative workshop you will decorate your own mask so that you can be well dressed for the centenary of Huis Van Gijn. The etiquette books of 1900 prescribe appropriate attire for every lady and gentleman at a party. Let your creativity run wild, create color patterns and use sparklers to create your own design!
The workshop is supervised and suitable for children ages 4 to 12 (please note that there are 1 size masks available). There are a total of 5 workshop rounds of half an hour each between 12:30 and 3:00 pm.
Participation in the workshop costs €4.00 per child. Places are limited, so reserve your ticket at: https://www.huisvangijn.nl/zien-en-doen/maskers-versieren/
NOTES. To participate in the workshop you do not need to buy an entrance ticket to the museum. Of course, you can also visit the museum before or after, which is free for children up to 18 years old. For adults, discount cards such as the Museumkaart, Dordtpas or Rotterdampas are valid.
