Musical surprises Dordt Feasts

Fortunately, summer is far from over, and so is the Dordt Festivities. Musically, there is still a lot of fun to visit. Music theater Hollands Diep brings the dazzling, comical opera La Serva Padrona to the heart of Dordt. Be transported from the Energiehuis to the Naples of 1733. The opera is on Friday 27 and Sunday 29 August, tickets are 10 euros.

On Monday, September 30, Concertband Prince William of Orange will take a musical journey through its development under the title: From Mars to Samba. Various actors and presenters will further elaborate on the theme in their own humorous way. It is free, but reservations are required. On Wednesday, September 1, the orchestra Ars Musica will provide very special summer sounds in the Augustijnenkerk. Among other things, they will perform The Lark Ascending. Classical music for a wide audience!

Sunday, September 5, Dordtse Phil goes on the French tour twice and brings a sultry, summer program to the Energiehuis. Imagine yourself en vacances with French chansonnier Philippe Elan, and enjoy our own Dordtse Phil. Tickets are 8 euros.

Movies with a bite in summer Cloister Garden

Film lovers can visit the Monastery Garden again this summer. Enjoy open-air screenings of Cruella, Hitsville, the Making of Motown and I Care a Lot with a drink or a dish of the day in this special garden. For the third year, the idyllic Monastery Garden will be transformed into an atmospheric outdoor cinema for eight nights during the vacation season. On those evenings, The Movies always presents a special Film in the Backyard, a film with a bite befitting a beautiful summer evening. "These evenings are always a party," says Geert ter Steeg of The Movies. "A party that already starts with the lawn chair and rug parade, the music of DJ Jopiee & Friends and the possibility to have something to eat and drink beforehand."

As far as movies go, fans are in for a treat. After the blockbuster with impressive star cast Cruella on 27/8, two premiere films are coming: on Sept. 3, the musical documentary Hitsville, the Making of Motown and on Sept. 10, the suspense thriller I Care a Lot. "This last one is a real preview, the film will not start running in theaters until the end of September," said the director. The films start at 9 p.m., but the patio, bar and garden will be open as early as 6:30 p.m. On Friday nights Aug. 27, Sept. 3 and 10, tickets cost €8 and can be ordered through The Movies.

Pride you celebrate with each other and with the city

Thankfully, back on the road again: Dordrecht Pride! Of course Pride stands for LGBT acceptance in our city, but also for a colorful event full of performances to make you happy. Corona makes that this year's sixth edition of Pride will take place at the Energiehuis. "At least then we don't have to worry about the weather!" said organizer Lennart Lenskens. "Pride is a party to celebrate that you can be yourself, always and everywhere. Everyone decides for themselves what Pride looks like. Pride is freedom and not the other way around. You can celebrate pride in freedom, but you will never be free without pride."

"We have such a great and full program that we made a cut between the afternoon and evening program. In the afternoon, Edsilia Rombley, Style Party and drag queens who participated in Drag Race Holland will perform. In the evening we have Edwin van der Toolen, who managed to whip up a full Arena with the Toppers, Ferry Doedens, Justine Pelmelay, TRINXX, Lesse, DJ/MC Divine and Miss Majorie. In between there are dance and acrobatics performances. High heels are a recurring theme in the program." Tickets for Dordrecht Pride cost 15 euros. You can sign up for workshops at info@dordrechtprice.nl.
