It's finally here: it's summer vacation! And that's lucky, because whether you go on vacation or not, there is plenty to do in and around the city. From swimming to boating and from supping to climbing.
There is plenty to do this summer in the city!
Swimming is obviously the activity you like to do in the summer. You can do that for example in the Wantijbad, at the Paddenstoel, in the Wantij near Kinepolis and at the Sportboulevard. In particular, the Wantijbad is the place to be. The open-air pool is a great place to be. You can splash around in the water, play a game of volleyball on the shore or romp around on the grass. Don't forget your towel, sunscreen and bottled drinks - it's great to go to the Wantijbad in warm temperatures! At the Paddenstoel, you can also enjoy a swim outdoors. This splash pool in the Wantijpark is perfect for the little ones on a summer day. Rather swim in the Wantij? You can do so at the famous steps behind Kinepolis. When the weather is not so good this summer, do not grieve. Just go to the Sportboulevard, where you can swim indoors! In the recreational pool you can experience the feeling of summer (vacation) just as well.
Sure, it can be hot, but it's also nice to be active in the summer. For example, go to the Klimbos Dordrecht, a perfect day out! With as many as seven different climbing routes including a zip line, difficult transitions, hugging poles and large nets, there is challenge for young and old. From six years and 1 meter 20 there are three routes to climb, if you are 1 meter 40 or taller there are four more routes. It's great fun in nature and something different. Fun fact: Klimbos Dordrecht is the only location in Klimbos Netherlands where you climb over water!
Another nice outing: the playground in Reeweg Park, at the foot of the Noordendijk. A cool and green park, where you can play sports and meet. Surrounded by an oasis of green. Do you feel like being even more active? Then check out Board Academy's activities. There's plenty on offer: wakeboarding, supping, longboarding, water skiing, wakesurfing, fun tubing, bow and arrow paintball, archery, bubbleball and more. Ideal for the action enthusiast looking for a challenge. Choose a single lesson, or a workshop series. Enthusiastic instructors will take your outing to an even higher level, with guidance on the water or on the shore. Also great for your birthday this summer: celebrate your (children's) party with an activity!
Boating through the Biesbosch is a unique experience! And that experience starts at the Biesboschcentrum Dordrecht, where you can easily rent a boat. The Biesbosch is the largest freshwater tidal area of Europe and this is best discovered by boat. At Biesboschcentrum Dordrecht, you can choose from different types of boats to discover the Biesbosch from the water. With the canoe or sup (stand-up paddling) you will discover that the Biesbosch is a true jungle. You paddle under overhanging branches and pass richly vegetated banks. Would you rather take it easy? You can! Rent a whisper boat. There are whisper boats for 4 to 12 people. You control them very easily and the electric motor allows you to discover the flora and fauna of the Biesbosch in complete silence. You sail past reed beds and rich willow forests. The area is a paradise for bird watchers. Many different species of birds can be seen, such as kingfishers, sea eagles and ospreys. And with a little luck you might even spot a beaver!
Also through DRIJF you can enjoy the water in the Biesbosch. Supping and canoeing are the ideal activities to do under a summer sun. Supping is so popular for a reason - it is a challenging, but at the same time very accessible activity. You just start sitting on your knees or buttocks on the board and when you're up to it, you take a turn standing up. But you don't have to! Canoeing is also great fun to do. At DRIJF you rent a kayak for one or two people. This way you can discover the beautiful nature of the Biesbosch in a way that suits you.
