New stores and a move: there is plenty of activity on the Voorstraat. The Bridal Room moved to three times larger premises with larger storage and an even larger selection. And then there are Kicks and Coffee and women's fashion store Elily. Two new stores, both run by young enthusiastic entrepreneurs with guts.
And that's how downtown Dordrecht keeps getting a little more fun.
The Bridal Room: everything for a dream wedding
It's like a fairy tale. Two sisters who start designing wedding dresses in an attic room in Wielwijk. And with success. Ten years later, the proud owners of a spacious stylish bridal store filled with the most beautiful bridal and evening gowns. The Atbir sisters made the fairy tale come true. More and more brides-to-be come from all over the Netherlands and even abroad to The Bridal Room to try on and buy or rent an original Atbir for the most beautiful day of their lives. Samia Hajar, a niece of the owners, sales associate and responsible for marketing is equally proud. "In the Moroccan community our dresses are very popular, but also outside of it more and more women are saying yes to the Atbirdress."
Colorful fashion for young and old at Elily
Pauline Snel is the brand new owner of Elily, formerly Sylvera's Ladieswear. At 17 years old, Pauline is the youngest entrepreneur in downtown Dordrecht. The cozy store is full of colorful dresses, bags, shoes, jewelry and accessories. The collection (a.o. Ophilia) Pauline supplemented with the collection of the webshop she started a year ago. With this combination she has everything for fashion-conscious women from size 34 to 54. Passion for fashion was in the young entrepreneur from an early age. "Ever since I was three, I have been very outspoken in what I like and what I don't like. Having my own fashion store is really a dream come true. My goal: to see customers leave the door happy with a nice outfit."
Kicks and Coffee Two passions in one store
Sneakerlovers beware: Kicks and Coffee sells exclusive sneakers that cannot be found anywhere else in the Drechtsteden. Owner Stan Blokhuis has an extensive collection with the coolest and most original designs by Nike, Adidas, New Balance and Yeezy. New models arrive weekly. The special combination with coffee the young entrepreneur likes to explain. "Besides being a sneaker fan, I also love good coffee. I trained as a barista at Giraffe Coffee. Why not combine these two passions into one concept?" Stan emphasizes that while the quality is high (good service, everything must be right), the threshold to enter is low. Everyone is welcome at Kicks and Coffee. Anyone who orders a cup of coffee from Stan gets an Air Jordan-shaped cookie baked by his girlfriend. Voilá, even the baked goods add up. What more could you want? Kicks and Coffee is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
