From new name to a second location and from new event to completely new business - downtown is once again enriched with all kinds of great initiatives to explore this winter.
Exploring downtown
When Charlotte van Geenen noticed that her LOTT. Beauty Salon was moving more from a beauty treatment location to a retail store, she felt it was time for a new step. Charlotte realized another location, LOTT. Boutique, featuring clothing, jewelry and accessories. For ladies of all ages, as well as for babies and girls, in the form of cute jewelry and bags. LOTT. Boutique is a store for all ages, where you can walk out the door with a completely new outfit for great prices. It was a step to open a second store, though, says Charlotte. "I doubted for a long time whether it was wise to open a second store. But entrepreneurship is sometimes daring and I find that it really complements the offerings in downtown. It was exciting to do something completely new, but I see that there is enthusiasm for it. And so the beauty salon also gets full attention again. My second girlhood dream of opening a clothing store has come true!"
Brian always worked for an employer in the flower business, but when he moved to Dordrecht, he decided to fulfill his dream: start his own flower store. A good decision, because already in the first weekend that Bloemenhuis By Brian was open, it was taking a storm. Brian can explain that. ,,With us you get more exclusive flower arrangements for an affordable price. Fresh flowers with also a seven-day standing guarantee - not all flowers from a florist stand for seven days." Brian heard from customers that he even undercuts the prices of traders at the weekly market. And it should stay that way, says the entrepreneur. "For a very long time I did not dare to take the step to start for myself, because of financial uncertainty, but I heard that people in Dordrecht needed an affordable florist, so I dared to take that step now." Brian is proud to have non-standard floral arrangements in his assortment, as well as plants and accessories. "Flowers and plants brighten up your home, people get happy with flowers!"
Michele van Pelt knew it early on: working for a boss was not for her. While doing cleaning work, she dreamed of engaging in her true passion: nails. After four years of practicing nail styling as a hobby, she decided to take the plunge and start her own nail studio. Thus was born Getnailed Dordrecht, a nail studio in the heart of the city center. At Getnailed Dordrecht, Michele offers various nail treatments such as acrylics, nail extensions, BIAB and gel polish. In the future, pedicure will also be added to the offerings. With love and skill, she creates unique nail art, turning each set of nails into a personal work of art. "I find that I have a real talent for nail art," Michele says. "It's different every time and I enjoy seeing the end result. I take pride in creating nail art by hand - that's something not everyone can do." In addition to her craft, Michele has even gained some notoriety. She participated in the television program Long Live Love and is now recognized by customers. Her greatest satisfaction? The smile on clients' faces when they see their nails.
In a large store of no less than 400 m2 you will find a new store: Ketch Fashion. You buy second-hand clothes there in the broadest sense of the word. For young and old and for all kinds of prices. Originally, Ketch Fashion is a vintage store, but it was decided to take a different path in Dordrecht, with a new concept of second-hand clothing. And it works out just fine, says Bart Vink. "We have been received very positively. People are surprised by the price-quality ratio. Ketch Fashion is not a thrift store, but it does have clothes for nice prices. Especially the children's clothes are selling well." Bart can explain the success of the new store. "People nowadays have more of an eye for sustainability and clothes don't go abroad as often anymore, but stay in the Netherlands. Moreover, you can really distinguish yourself with second-hand clothing - you have something unique faster."
New at Kunstmin are the Kunstmin Kids Days. During the Kunstmin Kids Dagen there is a special program in which you will work with other kids on art and theater. The activity arose from the desire to make theater accessible and attractive to everyone. "Theater is fun and special and with this we want to add to that," says the theater. "We let children experience that theater can be an interactive, exciting experience. On the Kunstmin Kids Days we make the theater visit extra special with workshops and fun activities in the foyer. We also organize various activities throughout the year around our youth offerings, so there is always something extra for children to experience. The great thing about this is that you get to actively engage with art and theater and you don't do it alone, but with a group of kids who enjoy it just as much as you do." The next Kunstmin Kids Day is on Saturday, March 8 around De Toneelmakerij & Bijlmer Parktheater - The Greatest Magic Show.
