During the summer months of 2024; May, June, July and August, in honor of its 250th anniversary, Pictura will present outdoor drawing workshops on 4 Saturdays for amateur artists from Dordrecht and the surrounding area, led by a professional artist.
On a Saturday there will be 2 workshops, in the morning from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and in the afternoon from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Each workshop can accommodate 20 participants. It is possible to join both the morning and the afternoon.
Two of those Saturdays we will give the theme 'Gezicht op Dordrecht' (View of Dordrecht); on those days we will draw the present-day view of Dordrecht from the bank of the Oude Maas on the Zwijndrecht side of the river and the other Saturday from the bank of the Beneden Merwede on the Papendrecht side. Many artists preceded us in this; on the Papendrecht side the example of Albert Cuijp stands along the bank, in Zwijndrecht works by Jongkind and Schotel. But also some 'younger' Picturians like Willy Sluiter and Daan Mühlhaus have immortalized Dordrecht from the other side of the river.
During the first two workshops we will work from Dordrecht itself, in very different places. Namely in the garden of the Dordrecht Museum and in the nature of the Biesbosch.
