Together Forever is a group exhibition in which seven artists present works exploring the theme of PFAS pollution. PFAS are chemicals that do not break down and accumulate in water, soil, animals, and humans. Through poetic and exploratory works—including installations, sculptures, film, and photography—the artists convey how these invisible substances leave their mark. Together, the works form a sensory landscape centered on vulnerability and connectedness.
The exhibition brings together works byRoos van Geffen(1975, Nijmegen), Xandra van der Eijk(1985, Zevenaar), the collectiveDe Onkruidenier,Sissel Marie Tonn(1986, Copenhagen),Sarah van Wingerden(1993, Sliedrecht), andSofie Blom (1999, Dordrecht). On display are, among other things, a life-size figure made of soil from Dordrecht, photographs of life along the river, and an immersive installation featuring freshwater mussel shells.
That Together Forever is on display in Dordrecht is no coincidence. Since the 1960s, there has been a factory here (then DuPont, now Chemours) that uses PFAS, and from which these substances enter the environment via water and air. Even though emissions are lower than they used to be, PFAS do not disappear. They remain forever.
This exhibition is open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
