Eighteen animals have hidden high up in the trees in Weizigt Park. The animal scavenger hunt at Sustainability Center Weizigt leads past all the hiding places. Participants also have a chance to win a book. "It is a small alternative, very small, to the closure of our grounds including the Stadsboerderij since mid-December," says communications advisor Eva Baars. "The animals also miss cuddling. Many people miss the animals, but it's the same the other way around. Terribly unfortunate and also strange, such a large empty site where right now a lot is happening and what we like to share with our visitors."
Animals are born and plants flourish. Fortunately, the adjacent spacious Weizigt Park with its amazing playground is open.
"Parents and grandparents with their children and grandchildren know the park and playground well. Previously, they often combined their visit with a tour of City Farm and through our gardens. To still keep some contact with them and just because it's good and fun to be active outdoors, we came up with the animal scavenger hunt. Eighteen animals hide in the trees of the park. The route with assignments passes by the hiding places. Those who complete the entire scavenger hunt and complete all the assignments will have a chance to win a fun nature book each month. The scavenger hunt can be downloaded (see button below) or picked up at the Koetshuis, the fill-in sheets with the solution can also be handed in here. The nice thing is that we already have a lot of entries in."
"This year marks the tenth anniversary of the grand opening of the new City Farm. At the time, our City Farm was the most sustainable in the Netherlands. For this anniversary, unfortunately, no grand celebration, but all kinds of fun things online. We are also building an exhibition on the grounds. Last year we skipped the exhibition because of corona. We didn't want to do that again. The theme is "Wondering. Four artists are exhibiting very different works in which there is of course a link to sustainability. Like everything else at the Sustainability Center, the exhibition is free to visit as soon as the weather permits."
Pick up your Animal Scavenger Hunt at Weizigt or download it from this page. Use the map to walk past all the hiding places. Have you found an animal? Then write the name of the animal on the back of the treasure hunt sheet. For some of the animals you will also find a fun activity on the sheet. In total there are 18 animals hidden in the park. The route starts and ends at the Coach House. Bring your own pencil or pen to write down the answers. Have lots of fun!
