Get outside this fall, and especially in Dordrecht. Dordrecht is beautiful with all its monuments, historic downtown and quaint stores. And by bike you can easily get to National Park De Biesbosch or to Kinderdijk.
See the most beautiful spots via a fun hike, bike ride or scavenger hunt!
"Help, the tower falls over!" brings Dordrecht history to life for children. For only € 2.50 you have two exciting short kids tours. Great fun for a school vacation or a weekend. The kids route booklet is available from VVV Dordrecht. Also fun is the scavenger hunt 'Kraek den code'. This free treasure hunt can also be picked up or downloaded here. With this treasure map, you search for images, pictures and letters on monuments in the city. Sometimes they are hidden in facades and walls, so look around!
The two-kilometer kids' trail "Stir your Staart" is also highly recommended. It is an independent route in the Staart district. The start is at IKC De Regenboog, the route is designed for and by children. There are exercise assignments on the signs and if you bring your own die, the route is different every time. Follow the poles and bird prints.
The city walk Rondje Dordt has been renewed and refreshed. The five kilometer route through the city center of Dordrecht has new signage and leads along all the highlights. Along the way you can visit one of the museums and enjoy the three-river point.
It will be even more fun with the booklet (cost €4) in your pocket. The pocket-sized book gives lots of background information about the most important buildings along the route and contains beautiful photos. Also nice to leaf through at home afterwards. The route starts at the VVV tourist office at Spuiboulevard 99 and can also be done with a GPS route via smartphone with the IZI travel app.
In the surroundings of Dordrecht, there is an extensive cycling route network of 325 kilometers. For € 3.95, you can buy a junction map at the VVV tourist information office and plan your own routes along the most beautiful places in the region. Or choose one of the separate routes that take you to National Park De Biesbosch or on a voyage of discovery to World Heritage Site Kinderdijk.
Highly recommended is the route to Kinderdijk and National Park De Biesbosch. Through the center you cycle into the polders of the Alblasserwaard. The Waterbus takes you to Alblasserdam and from there the route passes the windmills of World Heritage Site Kinderdijk. Then you take another tour through National Park the Biesbosch. For those worried about headwinds, it is autumn after all, no worries. The tourist office rents out electric bicycles. Bring your rain suit and enjoy!
