It's summertime fun in downtown Dordrecht. The special new stores and initiatives certainly contribute to this. Moreover, a surprising and varied offer is not only good for Dordrechters, but also for visitors from all over the region. Increasingly, they too are finding their way to the oldest and nicest city in Holland with, among other things, these nice new entrepreneurs.

Marbiza's surprising offerings range from oriental lamps, pottery, lots of different tagines, cupcake molds, tea, barbecues, home perfume and much more. "Almost every week we have something new," says Yasmine Azzouz enthusiastically. Yasmine is the owners' daughter and occasionally works in the store with many Arabic products. "Nice gadgets and accessories for a good price," she describes the cozy and unique home furnishing store. All things she and her parents used to have to go to Rotterdam for. So why not start such a store herself? No sooner said than done and since two months Marbiza is located in the Vriesestraat. "The reactions we get from our customers are positive. People are happy that there is now a store like ours in this region. Nice and close, beautiful and original stuff and not expensive."
Charlotte Paul (26) is knowledgeable when it comes to babies and small children. She herself has a two-year-old little one. That combined with her long-cherished dream of starting her own store has resulted in SweetKidz on the corner of the Bagijnhof. She has been open since April 30 and is doing well. "I sell well-known baby and children's clothing brands like Feetje, Dirkje, Kokonoko, Levv and Frogs & Dogs. I have everything to dress babies and small children (up to about 7 years old) from head to toe cute but affordable, from shoes to hair accessories. Plus, care products from Naïf." Those planning a baby shower or gender reveal are also in the right place at SweetKidz. Balloons, confetti cannons, garlands, cards: everything to extensively celebrate the arrival of the new sprout. For now, the young entrepreneur is happy with her store, but if possible, she will expand her selection in the future to include larger sizes so that older children can also come to her for a nice contemporary outfit.
