Summer is really almost here, and so it is time for fun events in the city! Enjoy the sunshine and head out to the events on the Dordt Events.
Fancy a summer full of events and festivals around town!
Wantijpop is the best free music festival for friends and families in Dordrecht. This Saturday, enjoy the best acts from Dutch soil on the Ames stage with Antoon, Waylon, Froukje, Jaap Reesema, the Vices, Personal Trainer and Peperzout. Discover the coolest local acts on the Popcentrale field with Prince S. and the Goat as headliner. Stop by King Oak for the best kids' activities and dance to delicious house sounds at Secret Tunes.
Of course, there will be plenty of food trucks where you can feast on the tastiest food from the region. All this makes Wantijpop one of the nicest free activities to do in Dordrecht and its surroundings. And absolutely fun to do with the kids! Wantijpop is free and open to all ages. The entrance can be reached on the Baden-Powelllaan at the front of the Wantijpark. The event is on Saturday, June 10 from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., see you there!
On Sunday, June 11, 150 creative entrepreneurs can be found on Statenplein and in the Sarisgang during the Swan Market. They offer cool products and the story behind them. Back of the way, as years ago the same organization held a Pop Up Market in the city. Now it is back with the Swan Market, which takes place in several cities in the Netherlands and Belgium. If you are looking for homemade, creative products, this event is a valhalla! Handmade products that are mostly vintage or organic alternate with food trucks and music. From home products and jewelry to bags and plants: you name it, it's for sale. The grand event is for all ages, says Esme de Smit. "Everyone can have fun at the Swan Market. People can stroll around all kinds of stalls enjoying a drink on the terrace. We got a lot of questions about whether the Swan Market could come to Dordrecht, so it was about time!"
Exactly on the day when summer starts, the starting signal for the Zoomer Wantijrun sounds at 7:30 p.m. A running race from the Fortius grounds where three distances are scheduled: five kilometers for companies and individual runners where companies can win a challenge trophy, ten kilometers and ten English miles, or 16.1 kilometers. Three courses have been laid out, with the Wantij as a beautiful backdrop for the fifth edition of the Zoomer Wantijrun. Runners will make beautiful loops and can expect water stations and a DJ performance along the way. Not to mention an invigorating walk-through shower! After all, it is often a balmy summer evening at this time. Those who wish can toast with a glass of prosecco at the finish line. Just a little different from other runs! Also fun: as a participant, you can have your finishing time engraved on your scored medal. The public is of course welcome to come along the route to watch and encourage. Like on the Wantijdijk, or the Prins Hendrikbrug. At Fortius there is plenty to do during the Zoomer Wantijrun. All proceeds will go to the charity Sportclub Redo. With 900 participants that should be a nice proceeds.
