It's spring and that means color. This is reflected in the bright spring and summer collections that shine from the Dordt shop windows. We are going outside again, strolling along the water, enjoying the terrace and maybe even going to a festival again. It is time to score a new outfit for the nice spring days and the radiant summer that awaits us. Where better to do this than in the attractive city center of Dordrecht? Exactly, let's go.
Mix and match a sunny spring outfit
We start at Rockin' Items on Voorstraat Noord. What belongs in this spring's wardrobe anyway is loose-fitting pants (for example, by Humanoid) in a natural color like ecru, advises owner Deborah Verheggen. "Timeless, fashionable and comfortable." Make sure you have a good base and complement it with accessories in bright colors, for example bright pink metallic sandals and you are the queen on basically every occasion. Another recommendation is a striped suit from Gestuz, pants, shorts and a blazer. The combinations are endless.
Summer proof dancing on the beach daughter can with her new outfit we score at Kind so happy further down the Voorstraat. With her skirt from Longlivethequeen, she can sway and spin until the sun goes down. The top with 'Milkshake' by Sproet & Sprout and the catchy denim jacket by Play Up makes it even more cheerful. Nelleke Baas, co-owner with Stella Koekkoek of this children's clothing store with only sustainable brands, picks up a few more. A brown sandal by Salt Water with a gold buckle and a Mimi & Lula hairband. Meanwhile, son is shining in shorts by Play up and a T-shirt with smileys by Molo. It really is all good at Kind so happy. Sneakers by Veja added (not pictured) and smiling we move on.
On Fish Street sits Alexander Roodfeld where owner Ties Roodfeld knows exactly what to wear for men, and he has good news. "Color is allowed again in the men's wardrobe. This spring it's especially orange tones like salmon and peach but also pink and old rose. And terry cloth is all the way back. The fabric is returning with several brands like Gran Sasso and Wahts on shorts, sweaters and polos, among others. It may take some men getting used to it again, but it's great on a hot summer day." Another fun summer outfit is short chinos topped with a bright orange or pink polo shirt. A pair of sneakers by Parbleu from the small shoe collection completes the outfit.
The cozy Vriesestraat has several stores we really want to take a look inside. At Two Stories for example. In this store with a mix of brands by Miranda van den Heuvel and Caroline Rosso the two styles of the girlfriends come together. Tough and trendy and feminine and timeless. What stands out is the cheerfulness, both in the ladies themselves and in the clothes. According to Miranda, what really must not be missing this spring is a dashing colorful dress. "The nice thing is that you can wear these in different ways. Sporty with a sandal or sneaker. Tough with a cowboy boot to a festival, but with a heel underneath you can also wear it for an evening out."
Jeans are always good, especially for those cooler summer nights. Across the street from Two Stories is Stones Jeans. The choice is vast when it comes to the jeans collection of owner Sjors Volder. Cars Jeans, Levi's, PME Legend and Tommy Hilfiger and many more in all shapes and sizes. And while we're there, we might as well pick up a nice popular matching set from Malelions or Airforce (shorts and shirt).
Van Roosmalen Optiek has the largest collection of Serengeti sunglasses in the region. "The best sunglasses for both men and women you can have," says Jasper van Roosmalen, owner of the optic. "It's an investment, but Serengeti sunglasses last for years. Super beautiful materials, wear-resistant mineral lenses made of real glass, great viewing and wearing comfort, lightly fading lenses and a unique designer collection make many people choose Serengeti again and again. These sunglasses sell themselves." In addition to the wide selection in the webshop, the store on Vriesestraat always has an average of 70 models in stock. Best of all, the sympathetic entrepreneur immediately adjusts your brand-new glasses to the perfect size.
At No. 28 Living & Lifestyle on Nieuwstraat, sales assistant Carolien Schram welcomes us with open arms. As far as she is concerned, a small compact (phone) bag is the must have of this spring. "Small but fine and perfect for visiting festivals, for example. Exactly what you need fits in it. Easy to carry and a super cute accessory. We have them in all colors in all materials and from different brands including Monk & Anna, Teatro, Zusss and Chabo." Couple of cute bracelets to go with them, after all the sleeves are short again or at least rolled up, and we're all set. Ready for spring and ready for the sun!
