Today is the day, the start of the stage from Dordrecht. It will be a spectacle on and around the Energieplein: Dordrecht is the start location for the 2nd stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift!
Come do what you normally don't have the chance to do: spot the cyclists and their entourage up close. At 09.50 it will all happen, a first in Dordrecht. Then the tour will start from the Energieplein. Prior to that, there will be a presentation of the participants. You will then see the cycling ladies up close on the stage. The starting buses are on the square, so you can also admire them. So you can see with your own eyes how the ladies prepare for such a big event. Are there nerves? What do they do prior to such a stage? You can see it all from a very short distance!
The route will take the Tour cyclists through the old city center, past Bellevue, the Wijnstraat, Wolwevershaven, Grote Kerk, Oude Stadhuis and the Visstraat toward the Oranjelaan, among others. Be sure to arrive in time to watch the tour caravan as well. You can stand anywhere along the route. The lap through the center is a little slower, so you can see the entire peloton pass by. It is advisable to find a spot here.
The route then turns onto the N3, towards Papendrecht and the Alblasserwaard. The stage ends after a 67-kilometer ride, in Rotterdam.
One of the participants in the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is Lucinda Brand from Dordrecht. She is looking forward to the start on the Energieplein with extra enthusiasm. The born and raised Dordt native is also getting on the pedals that day, for the Tour starting from her own hometown. A home race for Lucinda, who is an ambassador for the event in Dordrecht.
"I know the course very well, of course. This will bring extra atmosphere because many people in the audience know me. I like being an ambassador for the Tour in Dordrecht, it will be a big event, which can certainly have an impact for children. They might think: 'I want this later too' and get inspired."
Lucinda has mapped out some cycling routes for cyclists and recreational cyclists especially for the Tour. Are you biking along?
