To do and experience
Sunday , May 5, is the first HOF on Sunday. On this day, children can roll up their sleeves at the T-shirt design workshop with freedom as its theme. They think about a short, powerful message and then translate it into a T-shirt design. When they are being creative, parents/caregivers can listen and participate during the HOF Live Talk in the Waldorf, featuring interesting speakers. This will also be recorded as a podcast. There is also a themed tour in which one discovers the highlights of Hof van Nederland. Of course, the permanent elements of the museum can also be experienced: the escapetour, the ball pit, the Free Spirits audio tours and the Children's Tour Liberated Griffin. And good news: admission for children under 18 is always free. For adults, there is a reduced admission price of €2 instead of the regular price of €14.
Museum about freedom, past and present.
The museum wants to make visitors aware of the concept of freedom; how fragile it can be and that Dordrecht has played an important role in its history. Conversations about freedom-related themes were already held in the Hof during the HOF Live talk show series and the museum wants to broaden this and involve more people. In a society where polarization is increasingly felt, the museum sees the task of engaging visitors on current issues in an accessible and sometimes playful way, because freedom is a concept that affects everyone. In its programming, the Hof always actively seeks cooperation with partners in the city. For example, Rnewt is coming to record a live podcast on May 5.

About the museum
Important historical events illustrate the drive for freedom through the ages. In 1572, for example, an important step was taken for freedom in the Netherlands. Indeed, at this very spot a secret meeting was organized by twelve Dutch cities at the invitation of William of Orange. The Court discussed how to proceed with the Dutch revolt against Spain and freedom of religion and conscience. That makes this place unique. During this time travel, other historical stories will also be told, for example about the Synod of Dordrecht (1618-1619), the De Witt brothers, World War II, emancipation and today's current events.
