The autumn vacations are upon us - the perfect time to get out and about in your own city. From Dordrecht museums to recreation in the Biesbosch: there is no time to waste this autumn.

Discovering Dordrecht museums
This autumn vacation there is plenty to do at museums in Dordrecht. For example, on Sunday, October 27, there is Family Sunday at the Onderwijsmuseum and there is also a Stories Festival that day. Furthermore, you can tinker, play and discover at the Onderwijsmuseum during the vacations, during walk-in workshops and activities. From making a peanut wreath for birds to campfire reading. Feel like going to Huis Van Gijn? That's another place to enjoy this fall vacation. For example, go to the activity 'Traces of three centuries in Huis Van Gijn', where, together with a curator, you look at which parts of the interior really date from the eighteenth century. Super-interesting! Or take part in the wool felting workshop, a creative workshop with pure wool.
From pub quiz to workshop
The Dordrecht Museum is also the place to be during the autumn vacations. Visit the new exhibition LIBERTE or have your children participate in a real etching workshop. With home, garden and kitchen materials they can make their own etching. Then there is also the Hof van NL. During the vacations there are all kinds of activities as part of the Month of History and on October 26 you can visit the Open Archive Day , including a workshop "Searching the Archives" for children. There will also be a walk-in session on restoration, a knowledge session on family arms: real or fake, a pub quiz and a knowledge session on digital archiving. So plenty to do this vacation in the Dordrecht museums!
Experience autumn at Weizigt
In autumn, Weizigt 's grounds are beautiful: the leaves on the trees turn red and yellow. During the autumn vacations, discover the numerous mushrooms, visit the animals at the City Farm or take a walk through the beautiful gardens. Saturday, Oct. 26, is a fun fall activity for children ages 4 through 12. The activity is playfully guided by guides from IVN Dordrecht. The theme is 'mushrooms'. Participation is free, but please register via scharrelkidsdordrecht@gmail.com. But there is more: every first Wednesday of the month it is Weizigt Wednesday. On those Wednesday afternoons there is a fun activity for children aged 5 to 10 at Stadsboerderij Weizigt. Wednesday 6 November is another Weizigt Wednesday. Registration is not necessary. Come along and find a spot!
Lunch with children
Kat in 't Bakkie is not to be missed this fall, because it is a great place to have lunch with the kids. Especially for the little ones there is a small lunch menu, with sandwiches, poffertjes and sandwiches with (pea)cheese. In other words: children are really taken into account here! It is a low-threshold establishment, where children can play to their heart's content in a relaxed atmosphere. During the autumn vacations there is also a reading morning: on Wednesday morning, October 30, Teacher Esther comes by with her storytelling case and turns reading aloud into quite a party. Another great place to have lunch with children is Restaurant Post. It is the culinary meeting place in the heart of the city for everyone who loves good food and drink. You'll find a game closet full of games for young and old, in collaboration with Pip & so. Nice detail: Restaurant Post is located in the former post office building and centrally located on the 'red carpet'!
Catching a movie: De Witt and Kinepolis
De Witt has a nice full program this fall break. For example, there is a fine children's program, every day of the vacations starting at noon. With, for example, children's films and a couple of great titles for the adults: for the younger audience 'The Wild Robot' and 'Linda wants chicken' and there is also the family film 'Ode to the Earth'. For adults, the new Joker movie is interesting to visit. De Witt has a special film about 250 years of Pictura on Tuesday evenings starting at 7 p.m. in conjunction with Pictura. Fancy something special? Starting the week before the vacations there is a breakfast movie on Sunday mornings! For a nice price you get a small breakfast and a nice movie. If you come on the weekends, there is regularly live music and on Halloween there is a special Halloween movie. Rather go to Kinepolis? There, too, there is plenty to see in the movie theaters this fall vacation. For example, go to 'Panda Bear in Africa' or a Harry Potter film.
Recreation in the Biesbosch
Just relaxing in nature this autumn vacation is ideal in the Biesbosch. For example, discover the most beautiful spots of this area at the Biesboschcentrum Dordrecht. Like on October 26, when it is Boot Day in the national parks of the Netherlands. So also in the Biesbosch. Put on your boots and discover the best places! The Biesbosch Center holds all kinds of activities during the vacations, such as the Stenen Keet Night Tour on October 26 and the Wetland Navigation Tour, also on this date. In addition, Sterrenwacht Mercurius is holding a Schemerexcursion. But there's much more to do in the Biesbosch this fall vacation - from the children's activity poking out pellets on October 29 to the Biesbosch Autumn Festival on October 30.
