Walk led by guides from nature organization IVN to the Tongplaat. Theme: Springbeds.
The Tongue Plate is a birding area par excellence. In spring there are the breeding birds from the south in the reed beds along the water. There is also a willow forest where you can see many plants and insects throughout the year, such as the spider moth in early summer.
The Tongplaats is a relatively new area(2012)which connects to the Zuidplaatje. It has an open(not accessible)water connection with the Nieuwe Merwede and is freshwater tidal area where the tide has a modest influence on the water. It has an enormous variety of plants, trees, birds and mammals.
Tip: Bring binoculars and especially wear waterproof shoes/boots.
