Two married couples who are friends have been sharing a vacation home in the Austrian Alps for years. During a joint vacation, their teenage daughters are involved in a serious accident. This pits the couples against each other, and their apparent friendship quickly crumbles. Old wounds and pent-up frustrations drive the parents further and further apart, when they learn that one daughter can be saved if the other girl is given up.
Screenwriter and director Mike van Diem once won an Oscar for his film Karakter. After many years, he returns with a new work, played by an ensemble of top Dutch actors: Fedja van Huet, Thekla Reuten, Noortje Herlaar and Flemish character actor Valentijn Dhaenens.
